Hello!
It's been sooo long since the last time I post. After gaining all the courage I needed, I'm going to start posting (about food, obviously) again.
Soo, I'm going to start with this little, humble coffee shop that successfully caught my attention which I had been wanting to visit. It's Turning Point Coffee. Turning Point Coffee has been the talk of the town recently - thanks to the social media for making it so popular.
For those of you who don't know where Turning Point coffee is, it is located in Gading Serpong area. If you're a first timer, You may find it hard to spot this coffee shop since there's no signage, billboard or whatsoever. Yes...you read that right. So, you have to be extra careful on finding this coffee shop.
Turning Point from Outside
You may wonder why does a small coffee shop, which doesn't bother to have a signage, become so popular. Talking about the power of social media and word of mouth, ladies and gentlemen.
I like the simplicity and the cleanliness of the place. They don't have much decoration and choose to keep it simple. The lighting was not too bright which creates a cozy ambiance and make you want to stay for a long time.
Turning Point has 2 areas for you to choose - outdoor and indoor. Both areas have a no-smoking policy, but there's this one table at the outdoor area for you to smoke.
My favorite was the outdoor area. Simply because there's nothing like Turning Point Coffee's outdoor area anywhere. Plus, the sunlight that enters the area make good shots! The downside is there's a lot of mosquito, but worry not - they provide anti-mosquito spray on your table. And also, it can get quite hot especially in the afternoon.

And now, let's move on to the much anticipated food and beverages.
Brogato ( 50 K )
The name is a combination of 2 words - brownies and affogato. My friend ordered this one and said it was good. The brownies was well-made and the coffee doesn't have that strong acidity, which is her preference. They also give you an extra shot of coffee, in case you want to have it strong.
Latte ( 35 K )
Latte ( 35 K )
I ordered the classic latte. For your information, Turning Point use Morph and Tanamera beans to name a few. The latte was decent, but nothing was special about it.
Cakes!! Cakes!!
Turning Point currently doesn't serve mains. So the choices are assorted cakes, croissants and I notice they have this menu called Breakfast Jar which is a jar filled with granola, yogurt and fruits. But the best thing is they supply the cakes from that famous Lareia Cakes, and also they supply the croissants from that famous Beau! Luckily at the day of my visit, the cakes and pies from Lareia has just arrived and were complete. Me and my friends decided to order the Red Velvet and Lychee Watermelon Cake.
Red Velvet ( 45K )
I had been eye-ing this Lareia's take on classic red velvet, and finally had the chance to taste this baby at Turning Point. What makes it different from any other red velvet cakes out there is that they have this chocolate malt chunks in the cream cheese layers. The cake itself was soft, airy and spongy ; the kind of cake texture I like. But it's sad to say that I don't really like the combination between the cream cheese and the chocolate malt chunks. Maybe I'm used to eating the traditional version of RVC, so it was kind of new to me. But nevertheless, their red velvet cake is one of Lareia's best selling cake, so why not give it a try?
Lychee Watermelon Cake ( 45K )
This cake was the highlight of my trip to Turning Point. The combination of watermelon and lychee is AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS. Some of you might think that the taste might be weird because there's fresh fruit (in this case, watermelon) inside the cake. I thought of that, too. But I was sooo wrong! The watermelon gives a fresh taste, especially during the hot weather we were having in Serpong area. It is THAT delicious that you may not want to stop munching this pretty looking cake. Definitely a recommended one!
I wanted to order the croissants by Beau but unfortunately they didn't stock them. Well, maybe next time.
I love the little details they have inside their coffee shop. There's even a feedback wall for you to write on. They also have a little bookshelf containing cookbooks and books about coffee.
Will I come back? Absolutely! I just love the ambiance and will surely come back to taste the Croissants by Beau. The fact that they open from early morning makes it a plus point. But I wish their opening hours would extend, since right now they are only open until 7 p.m.
