Hello!
On this short holiday, I decided to pay a visit to Common Grounds. I've been wanting to visit this coffee shop since they opened and finally had my chance today. Common Grounds is a coffee shop and eatery located in Citywalk Sudirman and they are famous for their coffee and their achievements. They were awarded with "The Best Cappuccino in Town" and if their baristas also have joined baristas championship nationally and internationally. So do expect great coffee here!
I personally love their interior. The store, as you can see, is dominated by white bricks that give this store a clean feeling. I don't know why, the interior reminded me of New York's underground subway station. Maybe because it has mosaic wall, tunnel-like ceiling, et cetera.
Don't be fooled by the outer look! Though this coffee shop may look small from outside, it actually has a spacious area inside.
I came around 12 and decided to have brunch with sissy. They serve all-day breakfast and I really really love how their menu is so diverse (making it even harder to choose, obviously). From muesli, salad, cakes to rice dishes. What I love the most is their brunch menu. They even let you choose different types of eggs according to your preference (free-range, omega 3, and white).
Tunisian Shakshouka ( 63K )
This dish is one of their best seller. Tunisian Shakshouka consisted of sunny side up eggs, tomato reduction, spiced sausages and 2 slices of toasted white bread. They serve the dish in a hot plate so you can cook the egg, whether you like it cooked or half-cooked. I personally love the tomato reduction, it still had tomato chunks in it that add freshness to the dish. I also love the combination of the white bread and the tomato reduction, just dip the bread into the reduction; major deliciousness! The sliced sausages, which was hidden somewhere underneath the reduction, was also delicious. Overall, I love this dish. So hearty, warming, and not too heavy - perfect for brunch.
Iced Cafe Latte ( 35K )
My regular order whenever I visit coffee shops - Iced Cafe Latte. I don't know why I didn't order the acclaimed best cappuccino in town, I have just realized while I'm making this post :') I ordered the weak version of this latte - with half shot of espresso. I like the coffee, not too strong nor too acidic. And yes, they have wide variety of coffee. They even have their own coffee blend which you can buy in-store along with their merchandises.
One thing I realized from my visit today is that they do coffee business seriously and they do it with passion. The group of which I believe was consists of the owners even brew, drip and make the coffee themselves. You can watch them while they do all their magic in the open coffee laboratory.
Gibraltar ( 30K )
My sister ordered Gibraltar which is the strong version of espresso. I believed it was too strong for me, so I didn't give it a try. But my sister who loves strong coffee said it was her definition of perfect coffee to kick-start her day.
Overall, I was satisfied with my visit to Common Grounds. Exquisite coffee and delicious and hearty dishes, what more can I ask? Definitely will be back whenever I want to enjoy quality coffee and absorb the warm ambiance. The wi-fi was super fast, so you might consider bringing your laptop to do your assignments or just to kill your time with browsing the internet. But I wish the service was a bit friendlier, just a tiny bit. Because it's just unpleasant to be served by pouting servers, right?
Oh, and by the way if you like to read and have a thing with books you should really go and visit this blog by a friend of mine! She likes to review great books and they are written and reviewed beautifully https://thetituli.wordpress.com/
