Blue Jasmine

Hello! :-)

How's everyone doing? I hope you had a fantastic weekend!

If you happened to be in Jakarta Selatan and confused about where to go, this is the place you definitely don't want to miss. Introducing Blue Jasmine, everyone! It is a new dining spot that serve Indonesian-Oriental cuisine, from appetizers to desserts. It is located inside The Maja building, and in the opposite of Pasar Taman Puring.

It is one of the most beautiful restaurant I have ever visited! They have two areas, indoor area and semi-outdoor area which covers the smoking area as well. By the time I visit Blue Jasmine, the indoor area was closed. In fact, they do close the indoor area every weekday and will open the indoor area starting from 6 p.m.. But on weekends, they open both areas. So if you want to have lunch indoor, you should definitely come on weekends. The place is very suitable if you want to have tea time with your friends, have your 'arisan', or maybe just a casual date perhaps?

Both areas are equally beautiful, depending on your preference. For me, I like the indoor area better because it has this posh and fancy feeling. The place is dominated with blue and white color has this "blue china" themed elements such as the pillow covers that make the place even more gorgeous. Seriously, everything in this restaurant is beautiful.

But what I love about the semi-outdoor area is there is a vertical garden that makes it even more gorgeous and somehow breezy. Luckily, when I came the weather was supporting since it was cloudy. Another beautiful detail that I love is that they have a small fountain pond where (I assumed) you can throw coins and maybe make a wish because there were coins inside the pond. How unique!

I can go on and on about how beautiful this place is, so now enough with the chatter and let's move on to the awaited food!!

The menu is dominated with Indonesian food and some of them are influenced by oriental cuisine. Mainly, the dishes are in big portion so you can share it with up to 3-4 people. The jasmine rice (15 K) is not included in almost all of the menu so you have to order it separately.

Udang Telur Asin ( 95K )

This dish was beautifully presented and my first impression was the prawns were huge! It was delicious but I expected the dish to be saltier which I can't quite taste the telur asin.

Sayur Asam Iga ( 95K )

This dish is one of Indonesia's comfort food and Blue Jasmine's version of sayur asam is like any other sayur asam except for additional iga, consisted of young jackfruit, squash, peanuts, corn, and of course tamarind. There were nothing special with the dish and the ribs were more like beef, but they were tender. By looking at the price, I expect the dish to have that "wow" factor.

Iced Jasmine Lychee ( 40K )

The lychee ice tea were refreshing with generous amount of lychee fruits and huge ones.

After my visit to Blue Jasmine, I learn that what makes this place worth a visit is the gorgeousness of the venue. I will definitely come back for their ambiance and maybe to dine in their beautiful indoor area. The service was great, too. But for the food, maybe I will come back to try different menu and search for another Blue Jasmine's specialty.
