The Fool

Hello, hungry peeps!

How are you all on this long weekend? I hope you guys are having a great time! On this post, I'm going to review this beautiful restaurant called "The Fool". But don't get fooled by the name, there's nothing foolish about this restaurant. Just good venue, and great food.

The Fool is located at The Breeze in BSD City. It might be a bit hard to reach for some people, but this one right here is considered as a hidden gem. The Breeze itself offers a distinct atmosphere, where grass is green and surrounded by lake. So if you are tired of the bustling scene of the big city, The Breeze might be a good option for you. The Breeze is like a giant food complex with some of the big names in the dining scene such as Sushi Tei, Sate Khas Senayan, Ootoya and the upcoming Brewerkz.

The Fool has this cool, hipster atmosphere with interior dominated by black and brown color. It has 2 areas; indoor and outdoor. It has this warm feeling but also bright, thanks to the open windows. What I found unique is that there's so many typography that can get quite informative like the one written on the wall which is about beer brewery history. Oh look, there's a bar area too!

For first-timers, finding The Fool can get pretty hard. You have to search for Shabu Auce, and The Fool is located right beside Shabu Auce. It is actually located at the upper level of Shabu Auce, so you have to take the elevator to the 2nd floor. Cool right? And the elevator is located right beside the Shabu Auce.

 

Now, let's move on to the food and drinks shall we?

The Fool's Burger (58 K)

Let's start with the bad news. The bad news is, this burger did not live up to my expectation and was lack of so many things. First, the bun. The bun was kind of hard, rough, and dry as you might see from the pictures. Second, the beef patty. The beef patty was overcooked and kind of hard as well. And it was not juicy at all. Those things was the crucial part for a burger. And sadly, the good part of this burger was just the french fries and the salad. They should really improve this menu, since I thought it was their specialty dish looking from it's name.

 Cheesy Chicken Bechamel (55 K)

 
From the bad news, let's move on to the good news. Now, this is the highlight of my entire lunch. This dish is mainly breaded chicken breast covered with cheesy bechamel sauce (which was sooo good by the way), potato wedges and salad served on the side. This dish kind of reminded me of chicken cordon bleu and tasted pretty much alike, except for the bechamel sauce. The chicken breast was cooked just right, not too dry nor undercooked. The best part is its creamy bechamel sauce with cheese, mushroom and smoked beef and I enjoyed this dish until the last bite.

Fettucine Homemade Carbonara (48 K)

This one also pleased my taste bud. I know this menu sounds simple and maybe doesn't caught your attention. But if you opt for something hearty, creamy and delicious then you should go for this one. What I like about this dish is that they cooked it al dente, the creaminess of this dish is just right, generous amount of mushroom and smoked beef, and the portion is quite big. What makes their version of fettucine carbonara different is their fettucine pasta which I guess is homemade. Unlike any usual fettucine pasta, theirs is a bit larger and chewier. They also serve this dish with bread stick. Another recommended menu!

 Shirley Temple (28 K)
 

The Fool have wide selection of drinks, from mocktails to wine. We ordered two mocktails. First, we ordered Shirley Temple, a mix of ginger ale, soda and grenadine. I really like their beverage presentation, with those colored sugar and glass. It makes the drink look so pretty! Besides the appearance, their version of Shirley Temple tasted kind of bland and lacked of flavor. Maybe they should add more of the grenadine syrup to enhance the flavor.

  
Apple Sunrise (28 K)

Next up is Apple Sunrise which is consisted of orange, apple, lime juice, grenadine syrup and sprite. This drink was refreshing and bursting with flavor, and in my opinion was better than the Shirley Temple. Recommended!

Overall, I was satisfied with my visit to The Fool and I see myself going back there soon! I love the ambiance, the food and their drink ; what more can I ask for? They just have this problem with some of their not-so-friendly servers, but maybe it was just a coincidence and it doesn't stop me from coming back.
